Watch Me!

Wednesday Apr 30, 2008

OH. MY. GOSH. I was just browsing watches at a website (TheWatchery.com) and my jaw droppped open when my eyes saw this honking baby.

THAT, ladies and gents, is a real watch! Isn’t that the most gorgeous hunk of timepiece you’ve ever seen?! When I am rich, I’m going to get me one of those pretty pink luxury watches. My eyes are stinging just from looking at so much.

TheWatchery.com has more that gold-plated, diamond-studded watches. They have watches for the average folks, too! I’ve tried paying for those WalMart cheapos, and all I can say is… you get what you pay for. :-p Needless to say, those cheapo watches are being repaired more than they are being worn. If you’re going to get a watch, why not spend a little more and get something reliable? Keep in mind that a beautiful watch makes a great gift, too! Watches can so fun and so stylish. TheWatchery has a really cute selection of Ebel watches– including a funky one with large numbers (love it!) and a Mickey Mouse watch! The selection is huge and very, very impressive. The discounts look great and every watch is guaranteed 100% authentic. There’s a special giveaway going on right now too– get a free watch with certain selected watches! Save money, get a timepiece, and look like a million bucks. Sounds good.

Veggie Shots

Tuesday Apr 29, 2008

When I was a kid, I had a friend whose little sister has to get vitamin shots (B12 shots). When I asked why, they told me it was “because she wouldn’t eat her vegetables.” The poor little girl was in absolute terror when “shot time” rolled around. She screamed and cried before the appointment, and screamed and cried after. She was an expert tantrum thrower, IMHO.

That was along time ago. I remember thinking “Boy, I hate my vegetables, but I’m going to eat them!” I hate shots, and eating veggies was worth avoiding them. (Well, kind of. I STILL won’t eat tomatoes or peppers, but I do like onions now). :D

I’ve come across a lot of health blogs via Entrecards. I pay close attention because, although I do now eat my vegetables, I seriously doubt I get enough B12 and Folic acid in my system. I am always so tired and I get sick frequently. I’ve seen a website that has a pill you can buy so you can get your sublingual B12 here. What a wonderful idea! Why haven’t they offered this stuff in pill form?! My poor friend suffered all those years over shots, when pills could have done it! Does anyone take these kinds of pills? Here’s what the website says:

“Sublingual” means “under the tongue.” You simply place a TriVita Sublingual B-12, B-6 & Folic Acid tablet under your tongue and allow it to dissolve completely. TriVita’s original patented Sublingual B-12, B-6 & Folic Acid was specially formulated to speed these essential B vitamins directly into your bloodstream!

Regular oral B-12 tablets have to take a long trip through your complex digestive system before being absorbed by your body. And, your ability to absorb B vitamins from food and regular oral pills decreases as you age.

With the TriVita original patented formula, you don’t have to worry about your B-12 going through a digestive system obstacle course – or the pain and expense of a B-12 injection. These essential nutrients go directly into your bloodstream, where they start working right away!

How about you? I’ve tried the regular (WalMart brand) B vitamin pills and I hate them! I seriously doubt their efficacy, too. I’d love to hear from some of you Entrecard health nuts. Check out the website and tell me what you think!

She’s Totally Desperate

Tuesday Apr 29, 2008

I don’t usually talk politics here on this blog. It’s too stressful. There just aren’t any good statesmen anymore (except Ron Paul! :D). If I think about politics too much, I’ll explode. I have my blood pressure to think about. And what a mess that would make all over the walls, tsk tsk.

Anyway, I saw the latest headline on Drudge Report and just HAD to chuckle. HILLARY CLINTON TO APPEAR FOR THE FIRST TIME ON FOX NEWS. HILLARY TO APPEAR IN BILL O’REILLY SHOW.

Big whoop. But it shows how desperate the lady is. Hillary is my senator (I’m in New York) and I do not like to think about it. She is a loser, and the only thing she has going for her is her nasty butchy attitude and her famous (but loser) husband. Plus, her whole governing philosophy is traitorous. :-p Can you tell I have no respect for the lady?

Still, my husband thinks she’ll win the presidency. When asked why, he says, “Bush, Clinton, Bush, Clinton.” As if it’s destiny. The money lenders and the Federal Reserve Bank have it all planned.

Well, my blood pressure is starting to rise so I’ll end here. But I’ll leave you with the thought I have about the whole president election thing: it is WAAAY over-hyped. Why isn’t more attention given to who we elect for Congress, for they control things that directly affect us, like taxes, laws, and etc?

Telephone Tip

Tuesday Apr 29, 2008

I don’t know WHAT it is with my telephone number, but I get about 12 or more telemarketing calls A DAY. I screen everything through my answering machine so I don’t have to deal with them. However, they are pretty nasty in that they wait for the answering machine message to finish, then they hang up. Sometimes they don’t hang up correctly, and I get that recording from the phone company “If you’d like to make a call, please hang up and try again” and it beeps and beeps. Quite loudly. I’m ranting, I know, but I am so sick and tired of it!! GRRR. I did register with the National No Call Registry, but I don’t know that it did much. I heard that the list expires after a few years! There’s got to be a better National No Call Registry system, somewhere.

Somebody gave me a link to a Reverse Cell Phone Lookup. Heh heh. What an interesting and useful little tool this can be! It’s free to use. I like the zip code list, too, because I am always wondering what state I’m calling for some of those online orders I make.

I Love I Love Lucy

Tuesday Apr 29, 2008

Something at the dinner table last night reminded us of a HEE-LAR-EE-US video of Lucille Ball. I can’t remember what that thing was that caused us to remember it anymore, lol. But the video is a clip from the I Love Lucy TV show, one of my favorite shows as a kid. I did so love I Love Lucy!!

The video we saw (on YouTube) was titled “Sour Grapes,” and it showed Lucy caught up in a winemaking skit in Italy. Unfortunately, the original video clip we saw at YouTube is gone now. All I could find was this copy someone did with their camcorder from a television. But an imperfect video of Lucy is better than no video! We loved watching it again. The video is in two parts. Be prepared to hold your sides together!

Pearl Points

Monday Apr 28, 2008

Mother’s Day is coming! Have I got a perfect gift idea for you! Pearl jewelry! What could possibly be more feminine and more matronly than pearls? I don’t think there is anything!

I adore pearls. More than any other kind of jewelry, I think that pearl jewelry is most beautiful. It’s milky luminescence and soft curves are so feminine and so romantic. I disagree with the proverb that “a diamond is a girl’s best friend.” I think not! It’s definitely the pearl that is most beloved, in my most humble opinion. And pearls are precious because they are crafted by a living thing (oyster). It takes a long, long time for that little oyster to create enough spit around that grain of sand to form a lovely sphere of silky, glowing calcium carbonite! But once he’s done, he’s got a gorgeous, precious pearl! Since we moms love things that take a long time and that take a lot of work, pearls are precious. And since we revel over discounts and sales, check out ThePearlOutlet.com for discount– genuine– pearls. The selection is stunning and the prices are even more stunning. These pearl earrings are $59. That’s a bargain! I bought pearl earrings fifteen years ago at a major retailer and they cost $100. So $59 is a terrific price.

Also, oysters are something you can EAT so we women love the pearl even more! what could be more perfect than a seafood platter and pearl earrings? And how about the natural multicolor pearls, all strung in a lovely necklace. Oooo lala! Those are so expensive, but to a woman, it is the gift of her life. Pearls are just so beautiful.

Need a gift for Mother’s Day? Your anniversary? Boxing Day? Tax Freedom Day? We women don’t care what day it is. Red Lobster and ThePearlOutlet.com. What could be better??

5 Minutes for 5 Minutes for Mom

Monday Apr 28, 2008

In my browsing of Entrecard blogs, I frequently peruse bloggers’ sidebars. Am I an aberration? Do most blog readers read the sidebars? i wonder. I have kept my sidebar content to a minimum, but not really by choice. It’s because I have not yet settled on a permanent theme for the blog. AND there’s that annoying little bug with Wordpress (or the theme, or both) that keeps deleting my widgets’ content. I have to paste the data back in from time to time. So the last thing I want to do it add more stuff to re-do!

Well, I have been looking for neat blogrolls and websites to join. This blog is still quite new and it needs some PR. I have been very impressed with the 5 Minutes for Mom website. It’s very cute! I’m going to join it (as soon as I have a theme made permanent). I know there are some mom bloggers who read this blog. Are you a member of 5 Minutes for Mom? Is it as fun as it looks? Let me know!

Roller Diva

Sunday Apr 27, 2008

I was asked to talk about one of my most embarrassing moments. It took me quite a long time to think of one. Not because I never have them, but because I ALWAYS have them. It has been very hard to pin one down. I finally remembered quite a silly moment. It’s from long, long ago, so it isn’t as condemning now. I moved away from the town I lived when this occurred, so I never see these people anymore. Good thing, too, because now that I am a crabby old lady I’d slug them if they laughed at me again.

ANYWAY, here’s the wonderful video I made in which I brag to all the world about my embarrassing moment!

Boy, am I ever glad to get that off my chest! I don’t skate anymore, by the way. I’d rather be doing more productive things, like eating Gulf oysters! Yes, I love shellfish and I am not embarrassed to admit it! I am appalled that some people eat the slimy things RAW. I think THAT would be embarrassing! But I’d never laugh, no, not I! I’d warn them of the dangers of eating raw oysters and suggest that they visit the BeOysterAware.com site for loads of information (and some kickin-good recipes, too).

If you eat raw oysters, come out of your own shells! It’s nothing of which to be ashamed! If they decide to come back up, well, that can be embarrassing…

Supersized Tornado

Friday Apr 25, 2008

OK, I don’t spend all of my time thinking about tornadoes! I think is is– what– my third post on them?! I talk more about tornadoes than all the snow we get around here! But I do have a fascination with them. I would be a tornado chaser if I didn’t have children. ;)

I found this stunning video of a huge, huge, supersized tornado. Two crazy guys chased this baby that landed in Manitoba. Those little sticks you see? Those are power lines.

The tornado swirls and swirls, and bobs up and down constantly. It finally spurns off three small ones at its base. It’s incredible to see. The video has no swearing, either, so it’s safe for kids.

I just cannot understand why people live in tornado-prone areas! Wow! It would be far too stressful to me!
