A Blog Day

Blabber

I’ve been busy today, working on my other blogs. I spent the weekend searching for some new WordPress themes, and didn’t find anything I liked. I’m just too fussy, I guess!! Well, I did like the Thesis Theme but that is $87!! And I did like a theme at Woo Themes, but that was $70!! Too pricey for my tastes. It’s rather ridiculous that a blog theme should cost as much as a whole year’s hosting, or beach cruiser bicycles. So here I remain with this theme. I like it enough, but it has some annoying quirks that I cannot resolve. Oh well.

Anyway, I’m pleased with the way my cooking blog is turning out. It’s called Wow Chow Cooking.com. I wrote a post about my Bavarian Cream Filled Eclairs today, and BOY did it make me hungry for sweets! I make these for our church gathering every year. Yummm. Easy to make, too. Check out the recipe if you are so inclined. There can never be too many cream-filled eclairs in the world!

I’ve also been thinking about the latest fiasco with Entrecard. A lot of my favorite blogs are pulling out of the network. I just don’t see why the Entrecard dudes are so eager to drive the network into the ground. They claim abject poverty for the site, but we’ve long wondered why EC doesn’t have advertising on the EC website and blog?? Why are they pushing it on us? And a lot of us bloggers didn’t mind having ads, as longs as they were APPROVED by us bloggers, and as long as they did not infringe on the advertising time of the current widget sponsor. It’s too bad, the way things have degenerated with EC. I always thought the “drop” card concept was brilliant. I wonder why no other person has come up with it? Is the “dropping” idea patented or copyrighted? Is it too difficult to create a website to support it? If I could, I sure would do it.

Anyway, right now, I’m riding out the EC wave. I’m waiting to see what happens. I like the traffic, and any traffic is better than no traffic. But if I start getting bad ads, the widget is going off the site or going to the bottom of the blog. We’ll see.

eclaires do sound yummy. I hear ya about the EC thing. I’m just planning on sticking it out and seeing what happens.

I agree with you about Entrecard. I’ve decided to hang in too just for the traffic it generates. I really don’t think the advertising will be anything objectionable, but if it is, then I’ll just move the EC card down farther. No big deal to me.

I’ve ridden out the EC waves too, but wow, things are really getting to the bottom of the barrel now. I had hope these new owners would pull things together, and at first it seemed like they were on the right track, but this latest move may drive away every last good blog that’s hung on. The thing I can’t understand is why neither Graham or these new people will consider the double widget – something people have been bringing up over and over again. Seems like a lot of people could deal with that compromise (paid ad on one side, EC credit ad on the other). Well I have a wait and see attitude as well. I might look into Agitize – seems like a lot of people are saying good things about that service, but I’m worried about the cost. Well, rest assured, I’ll keep visiting here for sure widget or not. šŸ˜€

Big “to do” about EntreCard is becoming tiresome. Frankly, I don’t care what ads they place, or how much they charge. I’ve never imposed any restrictions on the ads. For EntreCard to remain in business they have to make money. So be it. Too many bloggers have been spoiled by free stuff, and then they get all “uppity” when the time comes for an online service to make money or go away. If EC goes away, there will always be something new.
