… and not to Rome!
My family sometimes watches movies together while we eat dinner. We’ve been on an “epic movie” blitz, watching “Ben Hur,” and a bunch of documentaries about ancient Rome and Greece. Whew! Back then, all roads led to Rome, eh? Well, as exciting as ancient Rome was, I’m getting a little weary of the Emperor and his mauling minions. Time for some heart-warming stories, maybe with a cat or a dog.
I saw a trailer for a new family movie that has just been released: All Roads Lead Home The Movie.
WOW! This looks like a real heart-warmer. It’s rated PG for “thematic” elements (in other words, have the Kleenex ready), so it’s kid-friendly. It looks amazing. It’s about a young girl, named Belle, who is heartbroken after a tragic car accident that kills her mother. Whereas she had been happy and carefree, she is now bitter and hurt. She is sent to live with her grandfather in the country (just as bitter after the death of his daughter, Belle’s mother), where they both learn to forgive and live again. I cried just watching the trailer!
It looks like a beautiful movie. We try to avoid those “junk food” movies that are toxic for the brain (Dora the Explorer, anyone?). “All Roads Lead to Home” looks good, even though I just know it will make me bawl like a baby.
It stars Peter Coyote as the grandfather, Jason London as Belle’s father, Vivien Cardone as Belle, and even stars Peter Boyle. This looks like a good one for families.

I’m a married mom with 4 kids. We live in Upstate New York in an old 1855 house with our five pets (yes, five, *sigh*). Life is never dull, and exciting things just seem to always happen to me... why me... when I'm not running around the house fixing things, I do freelance writing and blogging. My work and opinions have appeared in Salon.com, USAToday, eHow.com, iMedia.com, the Associated Press and I've even been interviewed by TIME and The Wall Street Journal about blogging. Can you believe it?! Here is where I express my zany, creative, motherly side.
