I think spring has really and truly come to Upstate New York. Three weeks early! We Northeasterners are all wandering around outside in our lawns, mouths agape and eyeballs big. When I was a kid, I remember spring coming in March but that hasn’t happened for a long time. The robins are back and they are noisier than I ever recall. I can hear their high-pitched laughs echoing throughout the whole neighborhood. I never saw such super-happy birds!And our grass is growing! I guess I’d better get the snow tires off the car, huh?

Last night, I spent about 45 minutes writing a very complicated and involved post about how to protect yourself from Facebook tracking your online behavior. Even when you log out, Facebook watches where you go and stores it all. Google does the same thing, of course. My post was how to get rid of those tracks. Well, it was late last night so I decided to finish the post for the next day. As I went to “save” the draft, my blog reloaded the page and the entire article was gone. *poof* I searched and searched, hoping that my browser perhaps saved it somewhere. Nope. Gone. In the past, I might have screamed or cried or thrown a book or something. But this time I just sat there, stunned. Wow. The post just totally disappeared. Crazy.

So now, ladies and gentlemen, without further adieu… let us imagine for a moment the glorious, glittering scene before us. Sleek, black limousines line the streets. Paparazzi glut the sidewalks, their flashing camera bulbs creating a flood of artificial starlight….. an announcer excitedly announces, “Here she comes!”

The Freaky Frugalite, Rebecca, breathlessly extracts herself from the car, panting heavily from the effort. She plants her foot on the corner of the red carpet and viewers get a first glimpse of her distinctive “shabby chic” style. The black running shoes are crafted by Armani– Chang Armani, from the luxuriant Asian Walmart distribution center worldwide. Viewers catch a peek at Rebecca’s fuzzy pink and lime green anklet socks as she plants her flat feet onto the carpet. The crowds gasp at her amazing wardrobe, chosen specifically for this night: black knit Cabin Creek pants, a “USA 2010″ black t-shirt, and — oh the ripple of excitement that makes the photographers go crazy — her distinctive red flannel shirt, rolled up at the sleeves as is her style.

Rebecca poses for a brief moment before the adoring fans. She spits in her hand and slicks her ponytail back with a delicate air. The crowds swoon.

She walks slowly, so smooth and slowly — lest she trip over ANOTHER dang Lego brick left on the floor — and approaches the microphone. A gorgeous little toothpick with big poofy lips teeters up beside her and drops the Versatile Blogger Award and the Liebster Award into Rebecca’s hand. “Wurdz,” Rebecca speaks.

The crowd, now unable to control their elation, applaud loudly and throw a mountain of red roses toward the blogger. Rebecca is rushed into the awards center by a dozen refrigerator-sized suits wearing sunglasses and bulging with ordnance. Reporters catch a whisper of their conversation as Rebecca asks them if they prefer their pigeons in Double Trap or Universal Trench…

**THE CURTAIN OPENS**

Thanks, Susi, for giving me these awards! I promise to cherish them forever! As part of the award ceremony instructions, I must list 7 things about myself that you may not already know. Well, here goes, ya’all!

1. In case you didn’t know, I have a wildly vivid imagination. Sometimes I’m stupid enough to write it down. :blink:

2. I used to be a predominantly “right-brained” person, but now I am more “left-brained.”
I took a few of those “scientific” Internet quizzes that supposedly measure your strengths and weaknesses, and tell you what part of the brain you use. I thought it was funny that mine has shifted over years (assuming the quizzes were accurate). I’ve always been very orderly and regimental about some things, but I was always the “creative artist” kind of person. I don’t think these kinds of things are set in stone. People change. I had a very poor education as a youngster so when I was out of school I went about educating myself. Like Mark Twain said, “Never let schooling interfere with your education.” Maybe that’s what changed?

3. I don’t care much for pies, but I like cake. With creamy frosting. Mmmmm.

4. I just put a turkey in the oven.
I don’t save turkeys for only the holidays. After the holidays, when grocers are eager to sell their old birds, I snatch up half a dozen. I keep them in my freezer. When I am having a “winter blues” day, I bake one of them. There’s something about the smell of roasting turkey and a warm house that comforts me.

5. I like to emphasize my Scotch lineage because I think the Scots are cool, but I am actually not very Scottish. The line is somewhat thin even though the Scottish name has carried on in the family since the mid 1800′s. I’m actually more British English than anything. And not the Celtic British. Not the Welsh British. Not even the Anglo-Saxon or Danish British or Briton British. I’m more Norman British. The Normans were not even really British, not at first. They were from France before they conquered Britain. And they weren’t French, either. They were Scandinavian. The Vikings who, instead of pillaging the countrysides, decided to boot out the French dukes, and settle in French castles and pretend that they were royalty.

Got all that?

6. I like tiny, handheld stuffed animals. I have a little stuffed lamb on my computer. I snuggle him from time to time. It helps cure me whenever I am overcome with the I-Need-Another-Kitten disease.

7. It took me 6 hours to finally write this post.
I had brief interludes of laundry, loading the dishwasher, making phone calls, and laying down to rest my hip (sciatica). Boy, blogging is exhausting work! lol…

The games are SO cute, and the graphics are terrific. They have games that resemble Farmville and other sim games. I really like Remanum, because it’s a sim game but blends a bit of history with it.

Well, at least it’s Friday…. which, actually, doesn’t matter to me because I work at home all day Saturday, anyway! It’s a good thing I love what I do!

This week, I am participating in Hilary’s Friday Fill In meme. I thunk this is the second time in a row that I have remembered to do this on a Friday! It must be some kind of record!

This week’s statements:

1. ________ is not my strongest virtue.

Hm… I seem to have a lot of these, lol. I have to choose just one?! I guess if I did, I would choose “optimism.” I’m not exactly a pessimist, but I was taught that I should be prepared for bad things in life and that in life there are a lot of bad things. I think maybe this kind of thinking has a lot to do with being raised by a Russian Jewish/Italian Catholic parent. He had a very hard life and didn’t want us kids to waltz through life thinking life owed us anything. So I sometimes find it difficult to always find the positive in things. But I am getting better, even since I became a Christian and Jesus changed my way of thinking. Old habits can be hard to break but I’m SO much better than I used to be!

2. _________ is my favorite meal of the day.

Probably lunch. Too bad I rarely eat it. My breakfast usually consists of three cups of coffee. I usually skip lunch because I am so busy and then I wolf down dinner because… well, because I am still busy. I have terrible eating habits, I know! Sometimes I eat a quick lunch. I especially like to eat out for lunch. I eat healthier foods then, too.

The cat is my favorite pet. This is my baby, Livvy. She’s a half-Siamese kitty. I love her dearly. She’s the best cat I have ever owned.

Whenever disco music happens, I always start boogeying. Yeah, baby.

I am listening to The Newsboys album “Go Remixed” right now. My son got me hooked on the Newsboys (he has excellent taste in music- everything he listens to I absolutely love). The Newsboys did a “typical” album and then they redid the entire album with funky drums and reggae-like styling. I love it! I know, I know, I’m nutty for liking disco music! Do you still want to be my friend?

YES! It’s Friday! I always get this day mixed up, it kinda sneaks up on me and then disappears, ya know?

So here are this week’s fill-in statements from Hilary’s blog, Feeling Beachie:

1. Lately, I have been feeling a little___________.

Blue. I am not going to blame it on the gloomy days, incessant rain or other weather tweaks. My gloom has had more to do with my jobs, as a few companies I write for are either completely refiguring their business or slowly allowing it to ebb away. Online writing is a precarious business. Google controls a lot of what you see (and blocks a heck of a lot more) and Google considers us bloggers and freelance writers as “competition.” Without going into too many boring details, I’ve just been nervous about my financial stability this month. 2012 isn’t starting off very well, but after spending a few weeks moping about the situation, I’m determined to trust in God and trust for a better opportunity.

2. I am usually a ­­­­______.

Um, uh…. an early riser? Yet I must be someone else lately, though, because I’ve been sleeping in an awful lot these days….

3. ________________________is always the best feeling at the end of the day.

A job well done. ALWAYS the best.

4. _________________________is the first thing I do in the morning.

Grab my smartphone and check the time. That happens *most* mornings. Other times, I pet the cat who is sleeping on my head, or I move over to make room for the cat in the bed. What a bed hog she is!!
