English to Chinese in 10 EZ Lessons!

August 19, 2008

Fun, Rants

I love the Chinese language. Seriously. Can’t understand a word of it, but I do like it. Oh, wait– I do know a little bit! We learned a few Chinese phrases when we read about Gladys Aylward, missionary to the Mandarins. I wrote about it here.

I saw this at Disgruntled Republican and almost laughed my head off. LOLOL! It’s best if you read them aloud. You’ll learn it better that way.

English ———————Chinese

That’s not right!———— —-Sum Ting Wong

Are you harboring a fugitive? —Hu Yu Hai Ding

See me ASAP ——————-Kum Hia Nao

Small Horse ———————Tai Ni Po Ni

Did you go to the beach? ———Wai Yu So Tan

I bumped into a coffee table! —–Ai Bang Mai Ni

I think you need a face lift! ——-Chin Tu Fat

It’s very dark in here! ———–Wai So Dim

I thought you were on a diet! —-Wai Yu Mun Ching

This is a tow away zone! ———No Pah King

Our meeting is scheduled for next week!- Wai Yu Kum Nao

Staying out of sight ————–Lei Ying Lo

He’s cleaning his automobile —–Wa Shing Ka

Your body odor is offensive ——Yu Stin Ki Pu

Great —————————-Su Pa

My girls got into the groove and thought up a few more:

Excuse me ————-Yu En Mai Weh

That tastes terrible! ————-Goo Foh Yu

I’m thirsty ———- Me Wan Tee

Hoh boy, I will NEVER finish my chores if I don’t stop laughing. I have to look for some Kah Pah Ts (car parts) for Mi Hus Bahn. šŸ˜€

And now it’s time for the inevitable Disclaimer: This post is in NO WAY meant to pick on China, the Chinese people, or the Chinese language. I have great respect for the traditional Chinese culture, and I adore the Chinese language– it’s so melodious and I love to hear it spoken. This was all a joke. If you are easily offended, please be aware that the person I pick on the most is myself!
