I went to Buy.com to search for various stuff (we’re renovation the kitchen, so I’m keeping my eyes peeled on their weekly sale flyer) and spotted this honking baby. WHOA. I didn’t even know they were making quad-core Core i7 processors… didn’t they just release the Core i6 a few months ago?!
I love a speedy computer. My current one has four processors (quad core– *just* a plain old quad core, lol). I used to skimp and cut corners on my computers, but since I am the tech guy in the family, and seeing I am on the computer ALLLL day, I’ve decided to get only super-fast, quality stuff. I’d really rather not save a few bucks to be fixing the blasted things all day, thank you very much! I love my quad core, but wowsa, I have a serious need for speed…. :jittery: Not that I will be buying any more computers for a while, though! We have enough right now! And my kitchen renovation will be the main focus of my finances for a while…. still… someday, maybe… :D I can edit video and photos without the jittery stuttering of my computer. That would be nice.
Anyway, this Asus G51JX-A1 15.6″ Laptop is a nice one! Maybe a good gift for grads in a month. It’s cheap at Buy.com, about $1300 and includes free shipping. The specs are so sweet:

It’s touted as a gaming computer. I don’t play games (well, I play Chuzzle, if you call that “gaming”), but I do video and photo editing (a LOT, sigh), and even with my quad-core with 6GB RAM, the video software stutters and sometimes goes wonky. I need a new laptop someday… I don’t know if I want one this powerful, but it sure looks very capable. That’s the understatement of the week!
If you get this for you or someone else, be sure to get a chill mat for laptops– this thing could probably start a campfire after a few hours of use, eh?

BTW, I play Chuzzle, too! That is technically called gaming, but I prefer to call it by the old word “break”! :D

LOL!! Chuzzle and Gaming should not be in the same sentence!
But anyway… I hope this one stays on sale!!! I’m saving up for a laptop and almost bought a much cheaper one… but decided to wait until I can get a better one. This one looks PERFECT!!
BTW, if you see a good laptop at buy.com, let me know and I’ll use your link if I get it there! But I certainly can’t afford this one yet!
