I guess using the word "distraction" depends on your goal. Is your goal to serve the Lord? Then marriage is a distraction because sometimes you do have to compromise things. A wife is supposed to please her husband (and vice versa, I may add), so her attentions are divided. However, if your goal is to serve the husband, then marriage is not a distraction at all. But scripturally, a married woman is supposed to serve the Lord and please her husband. Sometimes that can be very difficult, as Paul stated. It is best to serve the Lord and please the Lord. But not all can live this way, so that's why it's not a "command" but rather a "suggestion." Yet serving the Lord is not an option-- there will be days when you will not please the husband. That's the stickler.

Marriage is not for everyone, you are certainly right about that. But I would never in a million years find it as a "distraction"...that is a very interesting word to use!
