How To Tell If Your Feet Smell

June 28, 2008

When I was in high school, there was a popular books called “100 Uses For a Dead Cat.” Some things were pretty funny, but it was a rather nasty book. This photo reminds me of it a little. How to tell if your shoes smell….

This may just constitute cruelty to animals…

Cats are good for more than just testing shoes. Here’s a true story, told to my husband by one of his co-workers.

This co-worker, Jake, has a cat. Every morning, the cat would bound into Jake’s bedroom to wake him up. Like a good cat, this cat would wake Jake up EARLY. Like, 4am! It’s a good thing that Jake needed to get up that early, to go to work; otherwise Jake wouldn’t have been so tolerant of this cat.

Anyway, one morning, Jake woke up later than usual. The cat had not woken him up that morning. Instead, Jake turned in bed to see the cat in his bed, peering down over his headboard, and staring at the wall behind. The cat was absolutely entranced with something behind the headboard. Jake sat up to see what the cat was staring at, but saw nothing.

The next morning, the exact same thing happened! Jake again peered down behind his headboard– maybe a mouse or a spider? He saw nothing.

The next morning– the same thing again! The cat was silent every time, but he was on the bed, paws on the headboard, peering down the wall behind. Jake was perplexed. He determined that when he returned from work later that day, he’d pull the bed away from the wall and see what the cat was staring at.

That evening, Jake moved the bed away from the wall and saw his electrical outlet receptacle. He got down on all fours to look closely. All around the receptacle slots were black scorch marks. Apparently, the outlet had shorted and was arcing. The cat had noticed the arcs! Jake said that his cat probably saved his life!

So, if you have a cat, count your blessings! They can test your shoes and watch your electrical system! Now if only they could help with weight loss programs!

Our cat Wolfgang (he was 22 and passed away) would rub and rub and rub his head and body in my husbands shoes and only his shoes everyday. Very cute and bizarre. Great story!

LOL! Those pictures are a riot!!

WOW! That is incredible. Animals really do have a 6th sense and can help us if we really pay attention to them! I love the photos! šŸ˜€

Wow, that’s amazing. My cat often looks off in the distance when nothing is there. It bugs me because I don’t know what’s attracting his attention. We just think he’s weird. Cats (and dogs) can certainly be life savers. Great story!

Hooray for the hero cat. One day, I want to do something heroic.

Amazing story. I believe not only cats, dogs have the similar ability too. There was an incident whereby my aunt’s daughter left the hair dryer on in the drawer without realising that it was still on. After a while their dog actually led them to the closed drawer and stared at the drawer. My aunt, on sensing something might be wrong, opened up the drawer and found that the hair dryer was still on. I could not imagine what would happen if the dog did not lead them to the drawer.

Wow, that cat did save them from a bad fire. Cats do seem to have a sixth sense. Very funny picture of that cat. My smelly feet could probably do that to a cat.LOL

Great story. You made my day brighter. My cat brought two (not one, two!) live baby rabbits into the house yesterday through the doggie door. I guess maybe chasing baby bunny rabbits around the family room is a small price to pay for an animal that might save my life one day!

That is hilarious. I’m wondering how they got the cat to lie like that.

We’ve got a lot of cat owners here, lol. Kathy, my cats ALWAYS stared out into space– so freaky!

The cat is not mine… no cat could sniff my husband’s shoes and still be alive, lol.

This is so funny to me. Our cat LOVES my son’s shoes. She’ll put her head all the way inside as far as she can and just nuzzle them. I washed his work shoes recently and sat them outside to dry, and the next day, the shoes were covered in cat hair!
