This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Purex. All opinions are 100% mine.
I’m a mom with four kids and five pets and a husband who works with mail and newspapers all day. I am basically doomed to a life of laundry, yes.
If you young mothers think that the laundry situation will improve once your kids get older, I have one word for you: NOT.
So. I do a lot of laundry. I’m a busy gal– I don’t have time to be at the beck and call of the laundry room, ykwim? And there is NO WAY I will ever remember to run to the washer during the rinse cycle to pour in the required amount of fabric softener. I think I realized that about 8 years ago. I just *never* remember. And half the time, I never remember to throw in a dryer sheet, IF and WHEN I ever remember to buy the blasted things in the first place. And I will never, never, ever make my own laundry detergent. I know that some of you frugal gals do it, and that’s just swell. But I just don’t have the time, and I really don’t see how it saves THAT much money. Plus, I am a sucker for the sweet smell of those commercial detergents.
So the amazing dudes at Purex recognized my plight; and when they offered to make my life EASIER with their loot, I grabbed at the chance. Holy cow, what is this new-fangled invention?! A Purex 3-in-1 Laundry Sheet?! Has laundry *finally* entered the 21st century?!
Ladies and gentlemen, I think it has!!
This is the scoop: the Purex 3-in-1 is everything: laundry detergent, fabric softener, and dryer sheet all in one amazing little sheet the size of a Hallmark card. And it smells REALLY REALLY good. Like I said, I buy the laundry detergent for the smell. I will gladly pay a little extra for the glorious smell of sweet laundry. And I’ll pay for the convenience, too, because I just don’t have the time to be running to the washer and dryer every few minutes!!
But one question: is it really costing me extra to buy these things? I decided to do a scientific analysis.
*ahem*
Here’s a breakdown of my typical laundry items, broken down into cost per load and comparing Purex with my other laundry products:
In the chart below, I scrutinized my laundry products by cost per load.
*Cost as advertised at Alice.com.
During the summer, I use either fabric softener or dryer sheets, but not both. During the winter, due to the very dry air and static electricity problem we have here, I use either the fabric softener and dryer sheets combined, or just the dryer sheets. So the breakdown of the cost:
So the Summer Laundry Cost comes to $0.27 per load, and the Winter Laundry Cost comes to $0.22 per load. However, using the Purex 3-in-1 sheets will give me a year-round “all season” cost of $0.25 per load.
I don’t think that’s bad at all. And honestly, I’d still get the Purex, even if it was $0.05 cents more expensive than my usual system. The convenience of the sheets is what wins me over; like I said, I am wildly busy because I work full-time at home. Plus, my laundry won’t smell like a confused bag of potpourri because I’m using so many varieties (the Era smell, the Downy smell, etc) in the wash load. I like the Purex smell.
So the result? I think the Purex 3-in-1 sheets pay for themselves for the convenience. But it’s great to know that they really aren’t expensive, anyway. If you want to check out the Purex 3-in-1 for yourself, you can sign up to receive a free sample.
Here’s a frugal tip: skip the Purex dispenser pack and buy only the Purex refill packs. I use a ziploc back to store the sheets and keep them moist, without paying extra for the dispenser.

I actually went and signed up for a free sample, though I will probably just buy it this week when I go shopping. I like Purex products anyway, and this is convenient, even if a bit more money. I love it!!

Often you get what you pay for, and I enjoy reading other people’s opinion.

I’m SO jealous that you got to review this! I would LOVE to review these but I refuse to pay for them just to try them out. But maybe I will if I can find a great coupon.
