Make Conversation Interesting

December 24, 2008

Update: DUH I forgot to link to the quiz!! It’s here.

Well, in case things get a little too DULL at your holiday gathering, here’s something to spice up the atmosphere: politics! LOL I’ve heard it said so many times that you can’t talk about politics and religion at the table. I can understand that, to some degree (you don’t want Uncle Billy throwing deviled eggs at you or anything). But one young lady, when told this, furrowed her brows and asked, “What else is there to talk about?!” Yeah! What else is there, sports?! (gag)

I took this online quiz about politics. The questions were easy– too easy, actually. I am a little surprised that the quiz could pin me down to a label with 10 questions.

CENTRISTS espouse a “middle ground” regarding government control of the economy and personal behavior. Depending on the issue, they sometimes favor government intervention and sometimes support individual freedom of choice.

Centrists pride themselves on keeping an open mind,

tend to oppose “political extremes,” and emphasize what

they describe as “practical” solutions to problems.

So I’m a Centrist. Hm. I’ve been called a lot of things in my day, but never a Centrist, lol. I MUST be getting old. Or perhaps the Right and Left are going too far in their own directions, eh?

Anyway, it’s a quick quiz and one of the nicer ones I’ve seen. And if you are wanting to stir up a little REAL conversation at the family gathering, well, there ya go.

Yeah, it’s a unique quiz. I was surprised to see me as a Centrist and not the Right Wing Wacko that I really am.

I think the issue with the “parties” or “groups” is that they are all becoming more and more polarized, and so the Center has become wider and more people fall into that area. I’ve NEVER been a Moderate, NEVER. I’ve always been rather extreme. I call myself a Constitutionalist, because I believe in strictly adhering to the Constitution. I find it odd that this stance is now considered “Centrist.” :-p

I sure wish we were closer and could hash this out at Christmas dinner. It owuld be so much fun!
