Meet Me on Monday #37

March 6, 2011

MMoM

We got DUMPED with more snow yesterday and into this morning. I think all of Upstate New York is groaning, I know the guys who plow snow are. The snow has been constant this year, 3 inches here, 8 inches there. So it’s not like they plow once and it’s over for a few days. It’s plow plow plow…. my neighbor, who plows, is supposed to help me find a car tomorrow, but with all this snow, he’s not sure he can! šŸ™ So please pray that it STOPS snowing just for ONE day so he can crawl out of his plow truck and help me get my car! lol. We’ve been looking for 2 months now, and my poor old van is about to konk.

Anyway, it’s Monday! Here’s the meme.

Questions:

1. What is your favorite way to eat potatoes?
I like potatoes. The best way is baked. I like the thick skins and I bake them for a long time until they are meaty and just a little dry inside. I usually skip the butter but add a little bit of creamy horseradish sauce or maybe some Caesar salad dressing on them. Mmmmmm.

I once grew Adirondack Red potatoes. They are red on the inside. They didn’t taste any different, but they gave a nice color to the table.

2. What was the last package that was delivered to your house?
A plastic chair mat for the rug. I keep running over the rug with my desk chair, and it’s starting to curl up. I got the chair mat free from CSN Stores for promoting them. Very cool!

3. What is your favorite scent that you love to smell?
Peonies. Gardenia. Lilac. Roses. Stargazer lily. OHHHH how I love those flowers. Years ago, I planted the lilies outside my living room/office window, to breathe their heady scent during the summer. Unfortunately, my 100-year old windows no longer open. šŸ™ Gotta get new ones.

These are some of my lilies. AHHHHH I can’t wait to see them again.

4. Do you smoke?
Only when I’m on fire. HAHA! Compliments to my husband for that dumb joke.

5. Are your parents married or divorced?
Yes, all of them. My mom is on #3, my late father was on #3. I have a very messy family life. All my parents and step-parents have been married at least three times (some of them 5 times). All my grandparents never divorced, though. Divorce is very difficult on children. Believe me, I know.

Well, I don’t want to end off on that sad note. I’ll leave you with another garden photo. I call this my Secret Garden. I’m looking forward to enjoying it again this year.

Not all of New York is groaning-I’m not! Haha! I’ve only seen one plow out there, and our road has at least 4 inches on it right now. I wonder where they all are right now. šŸ˜›

  8. Shawn Says:

  10. Mary Says:

What beautiful flowers, and what a beautiful garden! People who can grow things just fascinate me…I definitely don’t have the “gift”!
    Thanks for stopping by!

  11. blueyes Says:

Gardenias is a good smell to you? Ugh, my mother had 2 huge gardenias right out the front porch and I always used the side door when those things were in bloom. Couldn’t stand em at all. Now wisteria is a good smell especially when they are in bloom but you just gotta watch out for the tons of bees that come with it.

  12. Beverly @ The Buzz Says:

Your garden is beautiful! Love the smell of peonies. A few years ago, I planted 14 not expecting all of them to come up–but they did! And finally bloomed well last year. Love it!

  13. Donna Says:

As crazy as I am about potatoes, I’ve never seen red ones!!

so jealous of your flowers – I can’t grow grass!

My parents were not really, ever together so when a friend (was was considering divorce) asked me how being from a broken home asked me how it affected my life – I had to tell her I didn’t know…. My father was never there – I didn’t know how to miss something I had never had.

  14. Kathy Says:

Hi, I’m visiting back from MMOM. I LOVE your secret garden! It looks like a wonderful place to relax and get lost in your thoughts šŸ™‚

  15. Vicki Says:

Wow … cool potatoes. I didn’t even know they existed. If it’s any consolation, I think all families are messy in some way. Love the picture of your garden.
    ~Vicki~
    Following you back!

  16. lin Says:

Do you think the snow will EVER end??? Just when I think we are done, we get another dusting. Ugh.

Sad about all the divorce and such in your family. I would imagine that would be tough as a child.

  17. Thinking Cat Says:

Stargazers were my wedding flowers!! Great answers, thanks for stopping by!

  18. Rena Says:

Never heard of those potatoes, neat! I wish we had a yard so that we can have a garden. Sigh. We are hoping to move in the next few years, somewhere outside of Utica.
