Monday Quiz About Me

July 23, 2012

MMoM

Ugh. I got up early enough but everything has been going in slow motion today. Upstate New York is back to bathing in the scalding hot weather again…. still no rain in over a month for my area. Very odd, especially considering that we had a slew of hurricanes and other monsoons hit us year after year. My personal productivity tanks when it’s this hot. That’s the reason I like the cold weather: I don’t sweat and I feel more alert and invigorated. Not even air conditioning helps in this heat. Only one more month of this really hot weather, yay!

On with the Monday meme, albeit a tad late.

Acting Balanced

1. What are your favorite pizza toppings?

I like anything. Anything except peppers. And onions. Well.. I do love onions but they don’t love me. :ik: Because I live in Upstate New York, we have THE BEST pizza in the world. I didn’t realize how very spoiled I was until I went down south and ordered pizza and chicken wings (non-locals call them “Buffalo wings,” but we never call them that). The pizza was like a cracker with spaghetti sauce and the “Buffalo wings” were merely tiny Southern fried chicken! If you ever come to New York, GET THE PIZZA and “real” wings. Nothing like it anywhere else.

2. What is the strangest name you’ve ever heard for a child?
Quantasia. I was in an urban social service waiting room, and a lady screamed at her kid, “Quantasia! GET OVER HERE!” I almost spat my coffee in hilarity. The poor kid.

Another weird name is “Keef.” I’ll relay a story told me by an acquaintance. He and another gentleman (insurance agents) were visiting a young black guy who was interested in insurance. The two agents introduced themselves and the guy introduced himself as “Keef.” As they were shaking hands, my friend said, “Nice to meet you, Keith.” The guy stopped shaking his hand and looked hard at my friend. “It’s not ‘Keith,'” he said, sourly. “IT’S ‘KEEF’!!!!”

:meh:

3. What is the best vacation you’ve ever gone on?
Well, I’ve only ever been on one….. we take a ton of day trips during the season for the travel blog, but we’ve only been on one “true” vacation, to Virginia. It was terrific. I wish I could take vacations regularly, but they are just too expensive.

4. What is your favorite quick summer meal?
Anything that anyone else makes for me. I have come to dislike cooking and during the summer the kids have more time to make things. šŸ™‚

Now I get to ask you a question! Ready?

What was your college or high school major?

I never went to college, but I went to an acting school after high school. My majors were art and English.

Heck, I can sweat even during the winter if I have a big coat on. Drives me batty.

We didn’t have any high school majors.

So far I have an Associates in Science for Information Systems Specialist and will have another Associates in Science next spring for Network Telecommunications.

  2. Wayne Says:

That is a good question – BA – Recreation & Leisure Studies, MA Applied Health Studies (was really recreation too), PhD Geography – Now I teach in a School of Business

  3. Jennifer Says:

My college major is psychology! I love it.
I am so with you on the pizza. I am from Long Island and I moved to South Carolina. This isn’t pizza here. I found one pizza place that is kind of close (still not NY pizza though). It’s the one thing I must have every time I visit New York.

Odd names are interesting, but surely a burden to the poor children who are saddled with them. The ones that get me are the more or less normal names with convoluted spellings.
Aischleygh, for Ashley; Kreigh, that’s “Cray”; Maikeighlah, yep, another of the hundred ways to write “Michaela.”

Undergrad, philosophy. Graduate degrees in school administration and mathematics.

  5. Secondary Roads Says:

My BA is in TV, Radio & Film. I soon decided I didn’t like the “creative” people in TV and opted for the technical side.

  6. Karen and Gerard Says:

My favorite pizza topping is tuna but lately I’ve been adding salmon. My best vacation was camp counseling at Beulah Beach (well, other than our honeymoon week).
My college majors were secretarial administration and secondary education.

Keef. Hee! Hee! I’ll bet his parents say “birfday” too. I’m just saying….
