It has caught me completely unprepared. Summer, that is. It’s not really summer, but it sure feels like it. Today is our second day of 90 degree F temperatures, with three or four more to go. Hot and humid, and everyone is cranky as all get-out.
It caught me unprepared because just a few days ago, we were shivering in our blankets and longjohns! We had two frost warnings the last week in May. Then– BANG– Sahara Desert! Wow. It threw me for a loop. I must be getting old or something.
So instead of dropping Entrecards, surfing blogs, and writing articles, today I have to dig out the “summer” clothing boxes (because the children still have their sweatshirts and long pants). I also have to wash and pack away the wintercoats, blankets, hats, mittens, gloves, and put the boots in storage. This has all put me in a very disoriented state of discombobulation!

I’m a married mom with 4 kids. We live in Upstate New York in an old 1855 house with our five pets (yes, five, *sigh*). Life is never dull, and exciting things just seem to always happen to me... why me... when I'm not running around the house fixing things, I do freelance writing and blogging. My work and opinions have appeared in Salon.com, USAToday, eHow.com, iMedia.com, the Associated Press and I've even been interviewed by TIME and The Wall Street Journal about blogging. Can you believe it?! Here is where I express my zany, creative, motherly side.

I hear ya. I’m in Michigan where we were freezing just a week ago. Now it’s close to 90…..I have to do the same seasonal stuff tomorrow. Ugh.

Oh yeah! It’s freaking hot in here also, I believe later it will be going to 34 degrees. Far more different weather when I first arrived in Canada, I was saying that they were using a centralized air conditioning outside lol! I was so naive of this country’s climates then.

It’s 95F in Dallas, Texas today and the wind continue to blow like a hurricane. It’s 6:45 pm as I write this and the wind has settled down a bit. I’m about to go outside and kill some weeds. I’ve been in doors all day because I just hate, really really hate the hot weather. It makes me very irritable
grrrrrhhhh! And strange as this is, my imagination has always led me to believe that NY would always be cool but I suppose that’s not so.

I know what you mean. It was over 100 degrees today. And I was complaining. Then I realized it’s actually summertime. Guess I better get used to it.

Our summer temperatures seem to have started a day after yours … on Sunday. Nothing quite as sizzling – about 78 degrees in fact … that’s hot in England!
Enjoy your weather – the sun seems to bring a smile on everyone’s face. lol

I’m from Ontario, Canada…we’ve had a rainy cold spring but for the last couple of days we’ve had high humidity and high temps…while I love the summer it is difficult for the body to adjust so quickly …not complaining mind you…just stating a fact.
I heard on the weather report the other day our summer is going to be “hotter” than usual here in our region!
I’ll enjoy the weather it could be cold and snow!! :0)
Cheers

It caught me unawares also. All my summer clothes are in suitcases! I have to get them out!

It’s still steaming here, and I still haven’t unpacked the clothes, lol! It took all day for the boys to clean out their closet. sigh.
We Canadians and Northeasterners aren’t used to Texan weather! I’m melting!
