Elaine, I just love those stickers, too! The suitcase has themm all over it.

Hilary, you have inspired me. We just may take the trip sooner than later. Yours sounds fabulous!! You should write a post about it!

Just do it!

I took 2 of my 3 kids on a 3-week long 5500-mile road trip back in '91. We took an elliptical path between Texas and Montana. We stopped at Dodge City, Black Hills, the small town I spent my childhood (Miles City. MT), my hometown of Missoula, MT, Yellowstone Park, Salt Lake City, Mesa Verde, Alburquerque, and El Paso.

Of those 5500 miles, only 300 of them were on the interstates. I stayed on either federal highways or well-maintained state roads and stopped at every little red-dotted point of interest listed on my road atlas.

The trip was amazing and memorable and educational.

Just do it!!

Oh, we'd love to do that, too, and take photographs of places we haven't seen before.

That suitcase with the stickers is the coolest!
