Pen Pals for Our Modern Age

Dear Diary

I was just just relaxing, waiting for the dinner to cook, and dropping Entrecards… I read a little here, a little there, on various blogs, and the realization hit me:

I just LOVE having friends from all over the world! It’s like having pen pals again!

When I was a kid, I had a few pen pals, one from Philadelphia, PA, one from Austin, TX, and another from Japan. I lost touch with the girl from Japan rather quickly after getting her address (she never wrote me back). The other two girls I kept up with, and one I still contact from time to time. I just loved having pen pals! I like learning about others’ cultures and families and governments, and everything!

With Entrecards, I can have that again. I find it so thrilling to know people from all amazing places in the United States, Singapore, Portugal, UK, Netherlands, Germany, and more! It’s really just… amazing to me. I love how the Internet has brought us all together. It’s been a real slice, folks!

So I just wanted to say I really appreciate you guys. It has enriched my life, getting to know you. I really cherish our friendships!
frolic

I know, I totally agree, me too, but I have to really laugh, that of the handful of my good “bloggy” friends, out of the whole world, one of my bestest ones (YOU!) is right in the same state as me! Too funny…. :-)

Oh my gosh you are right! It is like PenPals! I loved doing that… guess I still do! ;)

Great post about something so wonderful… ;) Hugs fellow bloggy friend.

I so totally agree with you. I am glad you are blogging. Makes life more interesting doesn’t it.

I feel the same way about twitter. I joined a few months ago and really enjoy getting to know fellow bloggers from around the world (though most of them are from the States). If you’re not on twitter and enjoy this sort of online interaction, I’d highly recommend it. There’s a great community of frugal bloggers on there too.

Me too! It is just so amazing and fun…I wish I’d known about blogging 10 years ago when my kids were really little!

I am so glad you are blogging Rebecca! :)

Yes, it’s the “meeting” and communication with people all over the world that I like best I think.

I feel the same way, having ciber friends from so many different countries is amazing, all united by English language and Entrecard.
That´s why I´m so hooked on Entrecard!
Carol´s comment reminded something: I recently meet a Portuguese mom (that blogs in English) trough Entrecard. She lives in Lisbon, +/- 250 km from Faro but if it wasn´t Entrecard I probably would never have found her blogs.
    I cherish your friendship too!
    A good Sunday.xx

I feel the same way! I feel like something is missing if I don’t check on my favorite blogs each day, (yours included). It is good to have blogging friends.

It’s funny to read your post I was just talking about my internet “Penpals” today to try and discribe to someone how I feel about my blogger friends. The best part of this type of penpal is that it is nearly instant, you don’t have to wait for weeks to gfet a “letter” back from your penpal like the old days. I love it.

It is amazing to meet new friends in the blogosphere. Though we don’t see each other in person, we keep each other up to date. With pen pal thing, I like exchanging mails because I find it more sincere and personalized.
