Freaky Frugalite

Well, I don’t know if they STINK… but they sure can smell nice. :D Here’s my review of the new-fangled Renuzit TriScents Air Freshener Kit.

I got the sample in the mail and really liked how it looks. Kind of techhie. There are three small bottles of scents in a console. You plug in the console, and every 45 minutes, the scents rotate. This helps prevent your nose from adjusting to the Tri-Scents fragrance. A new fresh scent every hour or so will keep the fragrances fresh in your brain.

So I plugged it in, wondering how my husband would react. He usually doesn’t like those pungent air perfumers at all. I just love the Renuzit apple cinnamon and the lavender scents and used them like CRAZY a few years ago, but he got so disturbed (“they burn my nose” he says) that I can’t keep them. I guess he prefers the smell of old plaster and wet basement, because that’s what the house regularly smells like. :-p

Anyway, I plugged it in. Near the place where we keep the household laundry. I honestly didn’t smell a thing, not unless I got very, very close to the console. Maybe it’s my old drafty house? It’s pretty old and we’re trying to renovate it, so it’s got holes in the walls and ripped up flooring…  then I took a closer look at the console and took the bottles out. oh DUH. There are little caps covering the scent bottles. These must be removed so the scent will come out! I felt like such a goof. I musta had a blond moment! Scary thing is– I’m not blond! :| So if you get the Kit, remember to remove the bottle caps.

The console has a little dial on the side, so you can adjust the fragrance. This may just save my marriage. I have it on “low” in hopes that he won’t talk about his nose burning. So far, so good.

The console, I’ve noticed, does rotate the scent every 45 minutes (there’s a little red detector light), so I know it’s working. The scents that came in this pack are “seaside breezes.” I don’t think I like the scents very much. One of them smells like my husband’s hair gel– that’s great on hair but not in the air. I prefer Renuzit’s cinnamon scents (remind me of Christmas baking) and vanilla. I’ll have to shop around for those, to see if they are available for this Kit.

So my review of the new Renuzit Tri-Scents Air Freshener Kit? Good. I love Tri-Scents, when the husband allows me to have them. We do use the Renuzit Adjustables in the bathrooms and I love them in there. This Kit is extremely handy– I won’t have to go around the house checking the level every 15 days or so– but the scents are a tad strong, even for me. And at $12 a Kit, it’s a bit pricey, although the Kit does come equipped with 3 filled bottles.
