It is amazing, all the social networks that are popping up everywhere. And new search engines are also coming on to the scenes. But this is the first time I’ve seen a socially networked search engine combination! It’s called “Scour.” It used to be called Aftervote, but was changed to Scour about a year ago. Basically, it’s an interactive search engine where you can vote whether search results are relevant. And Scour also gives users the opportunity to earn points that can be redeemed toward purchases and/or cashback.

Scour looks neat. I’m going to sign up (every penny helps!). Plus, Scour is so keen on getting the word out about the program that they have a contest opened up! This is a video contest– make a Scour Commercial ! This looks really neat! Make your own short video about Scour and be entered in the contest to win a $500 Visa gift card!
1. Create a video commercial (45 second duration or less) using some targeted keywords.
2. Add the Scour logo bumper to your video.
3. Upload your video to YouTube, and send the url to info@scour.com with “Scour Ad” in the email subject.
4. Get all your buddies and family to vote for your video.
5. Contest ends February 15th, when the winner is announced.
I love making video ads! If you have some talent in the video/advertising realm, you may be $500 richer. Check out the site for more info.

I’m a married mom with 4 kids. We live in Upstate New York in an old 1855 house with our five pets (yes, five, *sigh*). Life is never dull, and exciting things just seem to always happen to me... why me... when I'm not running around the house fixing things, I do freelance writing and blogging. My work and opinions have appeared in Salon.com, USAToday, eHow.com, iMedia.com, the Associated Press and I've even been interviewed by TIME and The Wall Street Journal about blogging. Can you believe it?! Here is where I express my zany, creative, motherly side.

Another social networking option! Ahhh! There are too many already! :-) I really do have trouble managing my time with all of the social networking options. I’m realizing that I just have to learn to say “no” to some of them.
