Paul was waiting in Athens, Greece, for his fellow partners to meet him there. While waiting, he walked throughout the city and encountered numerous statues, monuments, and altars to all sorts of gods: the gods of fertility, the gods of strength, the gods of the sea and the weather and of agriculture and even a [...]

Something Beautiful: Thy Word
October 4, 2010
I’m joining Renee’s meme, Something Beautiful! Check it out! This is something beautiful. To me, anyway. It’s an old Bible. It was the Mecomber family Bible, way back in 1884. It’s a remarkable book, it contains some exquisite lithographs as well as Josephus’ Antiquities of the Jews, a dictionary, concordance, and more. It also has [...]
TWFW: The Light
September 2, 2009
Your testimonies are wonderful; Therefore my soul keeps them. The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple. I opened my mouth and panted, For I longed for Your commandments. Look upon me and be merciful to me, As Your custom is toward those who love Your name. Direct my steps [...]
TWFW: When You Are Squeezed, What Comes Out?
August 18, 2009
We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed… Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but [...]
TWFW: Some Proverbs For the Day
August 5, 2009
I don’t have much to say today (believe it or not!!), but that’s not a bad thing. I’ll allow the words to speak for themselves this week. Enjoy!! My son, give attention to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. (Proverbs 4:20) Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a [...]
TWFW: Strength and Health
July 29, 2009
God heals. God strengthens. God protects. There’s really nothing more to say that hasn’t already been said. Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD [...]
TWFW: The Evidence Demands a Verdict
April 15, 2009
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest to them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood [...]
TWFW: Judging Insiders, Not Outsiders
March 18, 2009
I wrote to you in my epistle not to keep company with sexually immoral people. Yet I certainly did not mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. But now I have written to you [...]
TWFW: The New Covenant
February 25, 2009
The kids and I have been reading through Hebrews, one of my favorite letters of the Bible. It is just so rich. I’m going to quote a portion of it here and let the Spirit speak for Himself. This is just so wonderful, such good news! But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice [...]
When Somebody Loves You
October 24, 2008
The kids and I were reading 2 Corinthians 3 this morning. It was so wonderful. For some reason, just thinking about God’s love made the sunshine seem brighter, the skies bluer, and the day more beautiful. I was trying to explain to the kids about “where the Spirit is Lord, there is liberty,” and one [...]

I’m a married mom with 4 kids. We live in Upstate New York in an old 1855 house with our five pets (yes, five, *sigh*). Life is never dull, and exciting things just seem to always happen to me... why me... when I'm not running around the house fixing things, I do freelance writing and blogging. My work and opinions have appeared in Salon.com, USAToday, eHow.com, iMedia.com, the Associated Press and I've even been interviewed by TIME and The Wall Street Journal about blogging. Can you believe it?! Here is where I express my zany, creative, motherly side.
