Alvin and the Chipmunks! They’ve been around a looooong time. Like, as long as Mr. Rogers and King Friday the 13th! I found an old Mr. Rogers Neighborhood video on the Internet last week. Can you believe my kids have never seen Mr. Rogers?! I am such a bad mom, I know–denying them such important aspects of our culture, tut tut!

The same goes with Alvin & the Chipmunks. They first came out on TV in the early 60s, before my time, but syndication exposed them to me as a kid. I loved their antics, and how they drove poor Dave bananas! My older kids remember seeing the chipmunks movies (we had a sing-a-long video, eons ago) but my youngest son has no memory of their songs. Not even the On Top of Spaghetti that we loved so much! Oh my word, I will have to show him what <del datetime="2010-03-23T22:25:25+00:00">drivel</del> amazing entertainment I saw as a kid. Then he will realize why I am so loopy.

As a kid, I ALWAYS wanted to talk like Alvin. But I was too afraid to breathe in the helium.

Well, at least I can dress him up. How does he look, huh? Kinda cute, don’t you think? :D Can you tell what he is saying? Do you like the bling I gave him?

The movie “Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel” is going to be available on DVD, Blu-ray, and for digital download on March 30th, 2010; and there’s a big promotion going on. One of them is a cute website where you can “munk” yourself (as I did, above) and make more munk mayhem if you wish. The movie is coming in a DVD set that includes a bonus disk called “The Squeak Along.” LOL Click this link to buy it now. The chipmunks are so cute! Kids will love it– they are zany and colorful. And their voices are cute…. for about an hour or two!

OMG!!! We love Dave Stotts. I mean it– we looooove him. That guy has made some of the greatest, funniest, most educational history DVDs evah! His DVDs are the few I will actually purchase, so you know we are nuts about them. We have all the older Drive Thru History DVDs, and we also have his Drive Thru History: Foundations of Character America DVD, too. And so of course we flipped when we discovered that Stotts is making a whole new bunch of history DVDs. I recently bought Drive Thru History: Columbus, the Pilgrims, and Early Boston, and it’s a winner! It’s three 25-minute episodes, and Dave takes us to Italy, Holland, Plymouth, and around Massachusetts to retell the tales of the discovery and founding of America. My kids love these DVDs, and I really think they are the BEST history videos I have ever seen.

You gotta love Dave Stotts. He’s so goofy, and he presents history in a really fun and visual way. He uses some cool effects, weirdo and wacky humor, oddball props (like his Puritan hat and false teeth, with sunglasses), and is always driving a very cool car of some sort. We love Dave– he’s practically a part of our family. I highly recommend these DVDs. GET THEM! You will love them!

The family just spent a little while together, watching a terrific DVD series called Drive Thru History. I’m a tremendous history buff, so I really like these. But the DVDs are not made for history buffs– the’re made for “average” people, people who would like to learn more about the amazing things that happened in the past but don’t have the time to study. I just LOVE Dave Stotts and his DVDs. The guy is just hilarious and he has made some really, really quality DVDs. They deserve a plug, they are just that good. And I think you and your kids would just love them.

Dave has made a bunch of DVDs. There are 4 of them where he travels Asia Minor and Greece, exploring ancient history. I love them! He also has a bunch of DVDs on American history, and these are just hilarious. He’s making more, too. We are really looking forward to getting more.

So check out these DVDs! You’ll get a great education, AND you’ll get a lot of belly laughs, too. Probably the only thing I can think of that I don’t like about the DVDs is that Dave has a lot of art showcased in his DVDs, and a small percentage is immodest stuff (like nude statues). Dave actually decided to cover some of the statutes with polka-dot boxer shorts, LOL. But believe me, the art is a far cry from all the ikky sexy lingerie that’s shoved in our faces every day. So, I think the DVDs are well done.

You can find the DVDs at Amazon, at CBD here, and at the main site, here. I very, very highly recommend them!
