Anybody remember those wacky pine-tree shaped “air fresheners” from the 70s?

My parents hung them in the car, and man did they stink. Oh they did what they were intended to do– mask the smell of 6 stinky teenagers crammed into a summer of ’76 station wagon. The “pine” scent wasn’t too bad (the scent was taken from REAL Upstate New York trees, did you know that?!) but the “coconut” made me sick to my stomach. And all my friends’ parents loved “lemon” which smelled like a mixture of Pine-Sol and shoe polish. Yik.

Do you know that they STILL sell those things?! I was wandering through the automotive aisle and saw them. Oh my gosh, talk about flashbacks! Pine-tree fresheners, bell bottoms, Afros, and funk. :bop: wowsa, that’s going back.

Welcome to the 21st century, people.

Here in our modern age, teenagers still get sweaty and cars still absorb all the odors… but there’s a new de-stinkifier in town: Febreze Car Vent Clip! It’s CUTE!!! The folks at Febreze sent me a sample to try it out. The first thing I liked was the easy-to-open package. No wrangling with scissors here– just pull the tab and the package pops open.

The clip is a tiny thing. At first I figured you put it on the visor, but no– the clip attaches to the air vent of the car.

I wasn’t too keen on that, really. I don’t like overpowering scents in the car or anywhere. But the Febreze clip scent is adjustable. There’s a little slider on the top of the device where you can adjust the scent outflow. I chose the lowest setting because, as much as I like nice scents, my nose is sensitive. The last thing I need is to open the car door and watch as a blue puffy cloud of air freshener odors belch out of my car. The clip is supposed to last for 30 days with “low, ambient conditions.” I really like the scent, Linen Sky. It’s fresh without being perfumy. My husband, who usually hates air fresheners, didn’t particularly notice any overpowering scent, so that’s a big plus.

After driving around for a while, I could smell the scent even on “low” setting. It started to give off a slightly acrid smell, a little unpleasant. I have a very small car and my nose is practically right up on the dash. I think the clip would be better placed on the sun visor or in the back seat, away from my nose. Unfortunately, the clip is too small to fit on the visor. I placed the clip in the back, by the speakers near the window, and it seems to do better there.

The car clip is probably best suited for a minivan or SUV. Those things are huge and usually the driver is sitting up higher above the air vents. I like the Linen & Sky scent in general– we have the aerosol for the house and it smells great. In the car, it’s so so. I would LOVE to see a vanilla scent come out, or maybe a very light cinnamon scent. I love cinnamon.

Other scents are Thai Dragon Fruit, Hawaiian Aloha (there’s that coconut thing again!), Meadows & Rain, and Midnight Storm, a new scent. The clips are brand new in stores, released today, so go check them out. They are very affordable, at just $2.99 a package.

Please be aware that I received the Febreze Car Clip Air Freshener for free, to test it out. I am doing this review on my own accord and all my opinions are 100% mine. Thanks for reading!

Those folks at Febreze sure know how to make a gal happy. I opened up my door this morning to see a box from the FedEx man. Livvy and i opened it up, and look what we found! Pretty!

Talk about perfect timing. Yesterday’s renovation projects were agonizingly slow and difficult, and I woke up somewhat discouraged and NOT AT ALL motivated to do anything today. It was a wonderful surprise to open the door and find something pretty and sweet-smelling.

Inside the gift box is a package of beautiful, crispy napkins, a lovely white apron with blue trim, and a very neat-looking Febreze air-freshener dispenser! Oh, and lots of curly blue paper ribbons for Livvy. ;)

The new air freshener is called “Febreze Set & Refresh.” I think it is the best Febreze product EVER– requires no batteries and no electrical power to run!

Febreze sent me Linen & Sky. I think they are starting to know me well! I’m not too find of the heavy scents, but I do like the vanilla, cinnamon, and lighter scents. This is a wonderful dispenser– very pretty and not too “overpoweringly scenty” at all.

You insert the scent cartridge into the dispenser, pull out the bottom of the dispenser to create a little stand, and voila! Set it anywhere. It’s very pretty, so you don’t need to hide it. I put it on my new kitchen windowsill. Livvy abandoned her blue curly ribbons to check out the new dispenser. lol. A picture is worth a thousand words.

Well, I like it. And her toilette is half the reason we need air fresheners around here!

As I mentioned, I also got napkins and an apron. ?? What does this have to do with Febreze? Well, I read the accompanying cards, and discovered that Febreze is teaming up with the host from “Money Saving Meals,” Sandra Lee! Sandra specializes in ideas for keeping the home fresh, and preparing for unexpected guests in a flash. Febreze has a video page at YouTube with all sorts of information and helpful tips. I am actually hoping to have unexpected guests more often, now that I am not ashamed to entertain people in my new kitchen. Sandra included a few easy recipes for these occasions, including a luscious Custard Cream Pound Cake, yum!

This latest Febreze invention is, I think, their best so far. It’s delicate, it’s pretty, it’s unobtrusive, and it’s effective. And it doesn’t run on electricity. You can put it anywhere, and it looks nice! Plus, all you have to do to replenish the device is buy more cartridges, so that saves money. This is my favorite Febreze product of them all.

By the way, Febreze and MS&L graciously sent me this package free of charge. I didn’t get paid any money to do this post– I did this review of my own accord. All opinions are mine– I have plenty of my own opinions and don’t need to borrow anyone else’s! Thanks for reading.

Ooo I love it when I get surprise packages in the mail. A very nice advertiser sent me the latest Febreze product, to check out before it’s widely distributed. I’m so honored that they cherish my opinion. After saying our hellos to the Ugly Pooch Snatcher (what we imagine our dog calls the UPS man), we opened up the box to find this beautifully wrapped gift. Whoa! What could be inside?!

Pretty! It’s Thai Dragon Fruit Febreze!

It came with the Febreze spray, a little wooden elephant knick-knack, and the elegant silk scarf with an elastic ball gift-wrapper. Livvy LOVES the elastic ball!

I love the Febreze, and the scarf. I use the scarf to cover my computer monitor at night (to keep Livvy from licking the LCD screen, ew). The scent is their best scent ever, although I still do like the vanilla Febreze an awful lot. This Thai Dragon Febreze is part of Febreze’s new “Febreze Destinations Collection.” The Thai scent is sweet smelling– none of that nasty, acrid smell that other fresheners have (which give me headaches). We’ve been using the Thai Febreze a lot because we’d have the dog in the house since she’s been ill. Boy, it has come in HANDY, I tell you. Phew, beagles smell.

Anyway, the Thai is nice. It’s soft, and it smells a lot like papaya/mangoes might smell if you stuffed them into an aerosol can. I think it’s one of Febreze’s best. By the way, there’s a cool Febreze Destinations Collection Sweepstakes going on, if you like contests.

One Grand Prize winner will receive a trip for two to Thailand estimated at $18,800, plus $5,000 spending money. The trip includes two business class round trip flights, 7-day/6-night accommodations, and select tours and excursions for optional entertainment. OR you could choose a check in the amount of $5,000.

First Prize:
One First Prize Winner will receive $5,000 toward a Destinations-inspired makeover for their home.

Wowsa! I entered. I would LOVE to see Thailand (my kitty is Siamese, of COURSE we’d bring her along!). But I’d also love to have $5000 for my kitchen renovation project.

If you recall, I did a review on the Febreze Flameless Luminary a few weeks ago. I have a very sensitive nose, and hate pet odors, old cooking odors, and just about everything except a sweet breeze or an Asian Lily! We got a free packet of the Green Tea Citrus fragrance, which is terrible. Febreze was giving away a free sample of their Cranberry Pear shade, which I just received in the mail.

It’s really nice! It’s not pungent and doesn’t sting the nose hairs like the Green Tea shade. The Cranberry Pear shade is actually very nice for this time of year, too. It makes the house seem festive.

Still, the luminary is pricey ($16 or so) and requires batteries to operate. But if you don’t like candles burning around the house (my cat Livvy got a little too close as a kitten and her whiskers are still shriveled!), this might do. There’s also a Vanilla Frost and some cinnamon shade I’d like to try yet. Shades are usually $5 a packet (two shades per packet). Febreze has a special promotion going on, too– send them 6 used luminary shades and get a coupon for a package of 2 free shades. See the details and form here.

Other options are wickless candles and stuff like Glade plugins. But the Glade plugins are WAY too strong and the wickless candles are a tad pricey for me. Still, they are options. And you can always bake bread all day– that’s probably the best scent, EVER! :D

The good folks at Febreze know how important scents are to me (I do have a very sensitive nose) and they also realize that with upwards of 6 boys in the home, a dog, three cats, and a bird… my home gets PRETTY STINKY. So they showed me some mercy and sent me a very nice Febreze Home Collection Flameless Luminary kit. Livvy, my adorable Tabby-Point Siamese, got excited by all the packing (she just loves packing peanuts) and wanted to help.

Hmm I think she just wanted to fool around with the ribbon…

I’ve heard of these “candleless candles” but had never tried one. The Febreze Flameless Luminary requires two AA batteries (they were included, which is nice!) It took me a moment to figure out how to make the thing work– you must have the scented shade inserted into the Luminary box for the box to light up and start dispensing the scent. The shades come in their own packaged envelopes, which is very convenient. I got two packages of the scent Green Tea Citrus. It’s OK. I can’t say I loved the scent. I am particular about my smells, and I would have preferred something in vanilla or lavender– something a little less pungent than the Green Tea Citrus. As far as I know, the only scents available for these shades are the Green Tea Citrus, Pomegranate Mango, Cranberry Pear, and Willow Blossom.

The men of the house disliked the smell very much. I had to remove it from the living room to a more inconspicuous area. The shades do pack a pungent punch. I think if they were a little less scenty, and maybe with something more natural than the “blends” being offered, I’d like it more.

Still, I like the idea behind the Febreze Luminary. I have a few candles on my desk, which I light up from time to time when the house odors bother me. I know this is dangerous, and I’m terrified that my kitty will knock over the lit candles. So I love the idea behind the Luminary. But the Green Tea Citrus smell is not for me. I wonder if I could make my own scents, like from fabric softener or just by making a paper shade dabbed with my rose perfume or lavender blossoms? It probably would not last as long as an official Febreze shade, but it would be more pleasant.

I’m going to experiment with the Febreze Flameless Luminary a little more. I may try out their Willow Blossom shade, and if that it too strong, I think I will try out my own concoction.

I love the effect, though. In the evenings, the Febreze Luminary is just perfect; it creates a beautiful, lightly flickering ambiance like a candle without the dangers and mess of a candle. I think having a cinnamon or vanilla scent for the wintertime would be SO perfect. My photo didn’t come out extremely well, because I shut off the lights to snap the picture. The luminary glows, as you can see.

The Febreze Flameless Luminary is about $16 at Amazon.com. And I did see a shade called “Vanilla Frost” there that I may try. I love the decor, so it’s a permanent fixture on my shelf. I’ve just got to figure out a way to make the guys like the smell…

The neatest thing happened to me over the weekend. As some of you know, I got my little half-Siamese kitten Thursday. It was a bit of a surprise– earlier this week, a friend had directed me to a classified ad advertising some kittens. The next thing I know, I’m driving out on Thursday to pick up my kitten. She’s a lovely little thing; we’ve named her Olivia (Livvy, for short).

Well, today the FedEx man walked up to my door and dropped off a box. Guess what it was? A brand new cat carrier! With a few bottles of Febreze samples! And one of them is the new Febreze Air Effects Pet Odor Eliminator! I flipped! It’s pretty obvious that Livvy loves her new carrier, too.

This package was PERFECT timing! And I think that the Febreze Pet Odor Eliminator is going to be my new best friend, and an important piece of equipment along with the pooper-scooper and bag of catnip. :D I have a very sensitive nose and the smell of cat litter makes it wrinkle. I am nuts about Febreze (I always get pre-owned furniture and it is always stinky– so I have loads of Febreze around the house) because it smells so good and works on fabrics (Lysol makes me gag, ick). The pet odor eliminator has a really fresh scent and it won’t make Livvy’s little nose curl, either. One pump on the nozzle and you’re good. It’s a great product.

The Febreze To Go is a new product in the line of Febreze stuff. I keep it in my minivan. My husband is a mailman and uses our van to deliver mail, so… during the summer the van gets REALLY stinky (sorry, honey). I like this little bottle because now I can tuck it in the glovebox instead of having that big bottle of Febreze that rolls and clunks around inside the van while we drive.

So if you have a cat or a dog or a sweaty husband (hee), you might want to give Febreze a try. It has helped me out of the stinkiest situations. And now that I have an indoor cat with a litter box in the house, I’m sure it will be worth its weight in gold. :D

I remember when Febreze first came out. It was amazing! Before, the only real recourse for removing odors from fabrics and furniture was to douse the thing in baking soda and water. And HOPEFULLY the stink would leave. I don’t know about you, but I am a frugal shopper. That means, I buy used furniture! Our “pre-owned” couch, which is beautiful and in perfect condition, stunk like the Dickens of cigarrette smoke. Unbearable. We spent the early part of the summer doing things the old way– I doused the couch with baking soda and we let it sit outside for a few days. Then we vacuumed and vacuumed. All our efforts did very little. I bought an industrial-size bottle of Febreze and used it all up on the thing. The couch now sits in our living room, and doesn’t smell like an ashtray. But every once in a while, that nasty stench rises up on humid days, so we break out the industrial-sized bottle of Febreze and squirt the couch again. But really, I hate lugging the bottle out to the living room, so I tend to just leave it there, but it does look awful. Tell me, doesn’t that big blue bottle look a little out of place on the coffee table?!

Yeah, I think so, too.

But see that little bottle of liquid neat to it? That’s my latest “bright idea.” :-D That’s Febreze, too. It’s the new Febreze Refresher “Decor Collection” and they made it to look inconspicuous, like a vase, for those moments of little stinky “indiscretions.” I LOVE this stuff! It’s not too expensive, either– they come in 3-packs (8 oz. each bottle) for a little less than $10. I keep mine in my living room and in the bedroom (when the humidity rises, the carpet by the window smells like an old dog). A few quick squirts, and the furniture and room smells heavenly. I have lavender and vanilla, and it is glorious! My husband, who is averse to the heavy “air freshener” gadgets, does not mind my Febreze fix. I have sprayed some on my couch (again) and living room chair, and the scent is wonderful. Even with the windows open, the scent remains. It’s a light scent; I like it. It doesn’t burn my throat and nose like Lysol does, either.

So this new Febreze Refresher Decor Collection gets a thumbs up from me! It’s not expensive, it’s way better than the big blue Febreze bottle, and it leaves a nice, light scent on the fabrics and in the air. It’s also very nice to have in the room for a quick squirt before company arrives.

P.S. This is not a paid post!!
