Have a problem with varicose veins? Did you know that in the United States, women are most likely to get varicose veins, with an estimated 36% of women having them? Only about 20% of men in the United States have them. While no one exactly sure what causes varicose veins, it is believed that veins become abnormally thick and twisted from standing for long periods of time, and that genetics plays a big factor. Varicose veins are found throughout the body, but are most evident in the legs. For most people, varicose veins are just unsightly; but for others, varicose veins cause pain and discomfort.

It used to be that removing varicose veins required hospitalization and surgery. But those days are over! There are numerous vein clinics popping up throughout the States, offering non-invasive techniques to remove varicose veins, such as ultrasound and laser treatments. There’s an online vein clinic finder– it’s very convenient– to help you find clinics nearby to help with varicose veins. You can search the site by typing in your zip code.

Varicose veins are more than just unsightly- they can sometimes be painful. It’s great that modern medicine is being applied to help solve this problem! See the link to find a vein clinic near you.

I can’t believe I’m feeling those symptoms again. The kids and I have been sick, what, TEN TIMES this winter and spring. I can’t believe it. We are almost never sick! It’s been unbearable. I just hate the fatigue and the fuzzy mind that comes with the colds and flus. Still, thank God that’s all it’s been, just colds and flus, but please let me complain in my woes. :D

Anyway, I REFUSE to be sick. I’m sick of being sick! NO MORE! I’m trying to remember to take my fish oil pills (*siggh*), and I’m also trying something new: Wal-born. It’s a corny name for the generic brand of Airborne. I’ve heard good things about Airborne– people who work in public areas (like daycare centers or schools) take it when the kids are sick. Supposedly, this helps prevent the germs and viruses from invading you. Well, I’m going to try it and see. Today I feel awful, so maybe I’m too late in taking it, I don’t know.

The directions say to repeat every three hours as needed– holy cow! The stuff is $5 a pop and there are only 10 tablets in the bottle. I would be spending almost $5 a DAY on this stuff, $35 a WEEK. Being the frugal lass that I am, I think I’ll whittle the doses down to one or two tablets a day.

This stuff is supposed to pack a potent nutritional punch. It includes: Vitamins A, C, E, Riboflavin, Magnesium, Zinc, Selenium, Manganese, Potassium, Herbal Extracts, and amino acids. Hmmmm. Sounds fancy, indeed.

So I’ll keep you informed as to how it works. Don’t break out the tuxedos and party hats just yet: I took one of these about an hour ago, and I don’t feel any better yet. You dissolve the orangey tablet in water and it fizzles like an Alka-Selzer. “Great tasting!” it says on the bottle, but don’t you believe it. *gag* I can’t say I have my hopes up with it very much, so it won’t be my faith in this stuff that makes me feel better, haha. I just hope I don’t wind up allergic to it or anything! Stay tuned for my review.

Oh, and if you don’t see any updates here in a day or two, it means that the stuff sent me to the hospital. :-p

I’ve been thinking a lot about that old proverb, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” I wish I had applied to myself as a young person– I wouldn’t have to be using so many “pounds” as I grow older, haha! Why does it take so long to mature?? I wish I’d done things some things differently! Oh well, live and learn, eh?

The people at Cryo-Cell International have thought about this, too. Cryo-Cell International is a blood bank; specifically, it’s a service for parents and their new babies. They are one of the largest blood banks in the world. Umbilical cord blood is collected at birth with one of Cryo-Cell’s special kits. This cord blood is shipped to the Cryo-Cell blood banks and stored there. Medical studies have shown that umbilical cord blood is filled with stem cells– stem cells that can be utilized for future medical needs for the child. Stem cells have been called “the master cells,” because they produce all of the maturing cells in the body, including white blood cells and red blood cells. I think this is amazing! And cord blood collection it completely eliminates that false idea that scientists “need” to harvest stem cells from aborted babies. Cord blood, which kills no baby and hurts no one, can be harvested for its stem cells.

The Cryo-Cell kit is easily obtained. You can visit their website to learn more about the process and the cost– see here to

I never took drugs as a girl. I was a very good girl as a teenager, and avoided the entrapments of sordid teen living that plagued some of my friends. They always marveled how “good” I was– I never drank alcohol (except Kosher wine on Rosh Hashanah, and that stuff was so thick and sweet it could barely be called wine), never smoked a cigarette, never took a drug except aspirin, and never exhibited any inappropriate behavior with boys. I saw all the problems my friends had, and figured that was not for me. Plus, my stepdad told me he’d KILL ME if I did that stuff. That was a good motivator. :D

So it has been with a little trepidation that I have been taking prescription medication for my back problems (I have herniated disks that pop out when I am too active). And when I get a prescription, I research the stuffings out of it. I Google everything there is to know and more about this nasty little pill I have to take, yuk!

One of these drugs is called hydrocodone. Side effects include possible stomach upset, drowsiness, and– get this– euphoria. Well, well! Guess which side effect I’m having tonight??

LALALALA…. you’re right!

wooooohooo!

I’m floating, I’m flitting…. ha! My husband has removed all things like glass and won’t let me fill out balance transfers forms when I’m like this, LOL!
