I love my GPS. I really do. But some days…. POW, right in the kisser! I used to wrangle with paper maps. And once I opened one of those things, I could NEVER fold it back up. NEVER. It was like the Rubik’s Cube to me. HOW THE HECK DO YOU DO THIS, AGAIN?!?! In [...]

Meet Me on Monday… Late Again!
November 29, 2011
I have a GOOD excuse this time!! Really! We were traveling. Before I start the Meet Me on Monday, check out these photos! I am so excited, I can’t wait to blog about our trips on my travel blog, New York Traveler.net! We visited Howe Caverns in Cobleskill, NY. It was fabulous. Photo taking was [...]
No Better Time….
November 22, 2011
This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Hiltons of Branson for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine. … to go on vacation than right after the CRAZY holidays. Oh yes! All that house cleaning wears on a lady, you see. Mom needs a break, too, away from all the cooking and [...]
Meet Me on Monday, It’s Tuesday!
October 11, 2011
Monday came and went with a blink of an eye! Since it was a holiday, of sorts (Columbus Day), we took a day trip up to the High Peaks area of the Adirondack Mountain Range in New York State. Autumn is glowing in all its splendor there. I’ll have more photos and some interesting stories [...]
Special Effects
October 6, 2011
I don’t often tinker with my photos, besides cropping and sharpening the image. But we took so many stunning images of the Adirondack Mountains when we traveled there two weeks ago… I was inspired! I use Paint Shop Pro X2, a very nice program. It comes with a “time machine” effect. This effect is perhaps [...]
Excellence on Ice
September 29, 2011
When visiting Blue Mountain Lake, NY, last week, we visited the Adirondack Museum, one of the largest museums in Upstate New York. It took us two days to get through! There, we learned just about everything there is to know about the Adirondack Park region. The museum had a section dedicated to Lake Placid, a [...]
Irene Is Good For Business…
August 26, 2011
I never thought I’d say that a hurricane was good, but I checked the stats for my travel blog yesterday, and the traffic has spiked dramatically. The reason? The hurricane. Hurricane Irene, to be precise. Hurricanes are rare animals here in New York and New England. There have only been a few that hit us [...]
We Went to Olana!
August 17, 2011
After weeks of empty promises, I finally made good on my word and took the kids out for a day trip. We endured 2 hours in crazy freeway traffic through our capitol city (Albany, NY) to visit the Olana Historic Site in Hudson, NY, and have a nice lunch along the banks of the Hudson [...]
They Have a Word For People Like Me: Sucker!!
July 29, 2011
Maybe it’s in my face– that “look” that tells the street hawkers that I’m an easy one. Or maybe it’s in my demeanor, the way I walk that perhaps oozes motherly gullibility. Or maybe it’s my Upstate New York accent- we’re all hicks up here, lol. Whatever it is, I am a MAGNET for street [...]
Wordless Wednesday: Follow That Coffee Truck!
July 27, 2011
We’re back after a whirlwind day in New York City. The girls and I feel like we could sleep all day. We got up @ 4am to drive to Albany, to take the train to Manhattan. I spotted the “coffee tanker truck” on the way and it gave me a little boost of energy. :D [...]

I’m a married mom with 4 kids. We live in Upstate New York in an old 1855 house with our five pets (yes, five, *sigh*). Life is never dull, and exciting things just seem to always happen to me... why me... when I'm not running around the house fixing things, I do freelance writing and blogging. My work and opinions have appeared in Salon.com, USAToday, eHow.com, iMedia.com, the Associated Press and I've even been interviewed by TIME and The Wall Street Journal about blogging. Can you believe it?! Here is where I express my zany, creative, motherly side.
