The Field Trip of Your Life

October 10, 2008

I am nuts about history and travel. And do you know how it all got started? Field trips! I just loved field trips as a schoolkid. What kid doesn’t? The field trips I took- to Cornell University, the Nicholas Herkimer Home, Syracuse Zoo, and to New York City- remain some of the fondest memories I have as a youngster and gave me the taste for history that I have now. I try to build in local field trips and make them educational for my own kids in our homeschool. Someday we hope to travel across the U.S., or perhaps see Europe or Asia! We’d need help planning the more extensive travel goals.

More and more schools and groups are hiring educational travel experts. I know a few ladies who work in the business and they love it. Hemisphere Educational Travel, based in Illinois, is the leading educational travel agency and has been in business since 1970. We are definitely considering them when we start making our plans! They are willing to fully customize tours both in the United States and internationally. Safety is their main emphasis, followed by convenience and FUN! (Plus, teachers and chaperones travel for free– if that isn’t inspiring, I don’t know what is). Included in their tour package are:

Transportation (motor coach or airplane)
Hotel accommodations
All admission prices, tips, and taxes
Create-A-Video memory keepsake
Licensed, professional tour guides
24-hour tour escorts
Accident and illness insurance
and more

Because this is their business, Hemisphere Educational Travel has access to and knowledge of hotels and hotel deals, attractions and prices, etiquette and cultural rules (important when traveling abroad), and more. There is just no way an individual can combine all of these things into a neat little package– Hemisphere Educational Travel will handle it all. Check out their website. Just looking at it makes me want to pack my bags already.
