The Job Market

I’ve been diligently scouring the Internet classifieds (local and national) for employment. I’d still like to stay at home with my children, but the online market is so limited right now. A lot of us “older” moms are in the same boat: the kids are older, we need more income, but we haven’t been in the job market for two decades. Times have changed, what to do?! Talking with some peers, I see that one good option is returning to school to get a degree. But then again, there’s that problem with getting out of the house to go to school.

But guess what? The times have changed! 😀 Really changed, and changed for the better! Thanks to the Internet, getting an education is something available online! Saint Joseph University, founded in Philadelphia in 1851, offers offers online degree programs in education, business, and criminal justice. I’m interested in the education field; being a homeschooler for so many years, this field seems natural. SJU has a nice program, currently offering three core certificates, including the desired Project Management certificate, and will be adding more in the future. The link will take you to a page that shows what online courses are available and the prospective job market for the degrees. It’s a very interesting table. Project Management certificates can help us get management jobs in the engineering, construction, management analyst, education, and computer fields, and more. It’s just like starting from scratch again, all that is needed to qualify is a high school diploma or its equivalent. And I really love the fact that online education goes at my own pace, when I have time to set aside for it.

I do want to enter the job market again. It’s looking like I’ll probably need to beef up my education a little before I can get into anything serious again. I’m so glad to have the online education options open. If you are looking to get back into the workforce but need a little educational boost, you might want to look into something like what Saint Joseph’s University has to offer.
