WFW: Harvest Time

December 2, 2009

WFW

Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days. Ecclesiastes 11:1

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Galatians 6:9

It’s short and sweet this week. It’s been a busy week, but today has been especially busy. I met with the head of a New York State tourism marketing agency, and it was great! I have a travel blog; it’s my “main” blog. It’s a unique kind of travel blog, because instead of revolving around world travel like so many do, it’s about “backyard tourism,” which is: discovering the wonderful things in one’s own local area. I guess it’s a little niche that I am filling; apparently there are not too many folks out there devoting an entire website about local tourism. So what started out as a fun and frugal hobby is maturing (slowly maturing) into something that other people can use and enjoy and benefit from, including me. I feel like after years of working through the fallow ground and planting seeds, I’m starting to see a few little sprouts.

So I have high hopes for this new marketing relationship. I think New York State is a marvelous place (not counting the taxes and corrupt politics), and Upstate New York especially deserves some attention. Maybe all my work will grow into something that is financially profitable as well as a blessing to others. We’ll see. Right now, I have no idea where anything is going; I’m just hopeful and excited that someone out there likes my blog!!

Moral of the story: do what you know, do it with a pure heart, trust in God, and He will bless you. And if you’ve made a mistake, He’ll even bless your mistakes and lead you on. God is good. Amen.

    This came to mind;

    1Sa 16:7 But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for [the LORD seeth] not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.

    Hi Rebecca,
    Great news!
    You´re a very talented writer and photographer and deserve all the best (I mentioned it a few times and it´s how I really think). I enjoy “visiting” your region of NY trough your blog. Each time I drop by, I get to know a bit more from your “Backyard” and your side of the world that otherwise I couldn´t know :)
    I´m back online, my daughter has been sick and needed my attention. Will message you soon. Good weekend xx
