One of the great thing about pets is that they are always so happy to see you in the morning, no matter what you look like.
Seems like a lot of my online pals have been taking pets to the vets these days. I have to take Livvy for her yearly shots (oh yay) soon as the snow settles down. If someone had asked me 15 years ago what I thought about pet insurance, I would have said it was ridiculous. Eons ago, there was some TV show (I think it was Drew Carey- yeah, that long ago!) where the guy wanted to include his dog on his employee health insurance. It was very controversial at the time, I don’t think anyone had ever heard of dog insurance!
Things have certainly changed. Now, there IS pet insurance, and some folks even get best pet insurance for their pets. After seeing some of the vets bills when my critters have been sick and recovering from the sticker shock, I can see why. I’ve recently written a few articles about cat and dog health, so it’s made me think about it more. There has been a lot of advances in pet health (especially for dogs), so the market is full of new procedures and medicines. Cats are still a bit of an enigma, it seems. They have touchy livers and nearly everything is toxic to them. Did you know that coffee, chocolate, mold, onions, raisins, salt, yeast, avocados and lily plants? That’s according to this site. Livvy likes roast beef and I sometimes give her some; I’ll have to be careful that no onion slivers are included, yikes!
What do you think about pet insurance? Do you have it? Is it economical? Is it worth it?
